Case Filling      Check Weighing       Case Sequencing

The BPS "Bulk Pack Station" from PDI performs multiple functions in one, compact footprint. Product can be filled into shipping containers either by weight or by count. The BPS "Bulk Pack Station" will significantly reduce customer complaints due to under-filled shippers and unnecessary and costly product give-away. The BPS system is perfect for bulk packing individual products from candy bars to chicken nuggets or products packaged in small packets such as: cheese, cookies, flavor packs, condiments and coffee.

Case Filling
As the empty case is being indexed on to the loading station, accumulator hoppers store product. Once the empty case is in position, case filling begins. Fill by weight utilizes bulk and dribble fill rates to quickly and accurately fill the case. Fill by count utilizes a light curtain sensor to ensure accurate product count is maintained and only requires minimum product separation. Even product distribution in the case can also be achieved.

Check Weighing
Once filled, the system checks the accuracy of the fill by taking one final weight measurement. If the measured weight is not within tolerance, the case can be automatically rejected off the line. The operator can track the rejected cases through the Operator Interface Terminal.

Case Sequencing
Once the final weight measurement has been taken, the Patented "Lifting Weigh Platform" lowers, and the full case exits the Loading Station. The Next Case Holdback lowers to allow the next empty case in to position. Hoppers are used to accumulate product until a case is in position for filling.
